I did like some of the moments in the book, where the descriptions would become lyrical and fresh. But despite this, I feel that it could have been worked on more before being published. The author of this book is only 16 years old, and the maturity in the narrative was impressive. But, because of the thoughts being abstract, I’m having a hard time trying to put those thoughts into words. I’m an abstract thinker, so I did get it, a little bit, in that abstract part of the brain. I am sure that the author is quite intelligent and was trying to share a lesson with his tale, but I, unfortunately, was unable to discover it. The long, drawn-out sentences also left me confused at times. There are a lot of big words used in the narrative that, while I do understand a lot, some I didn’t know the meaning of and would have to stop and reread the sentence again in hopes of understanding it better. Then the narrative changes, taking us back two weeks, six weeks, detailing moments in Adam’s life that all led up to the moment in the beginning. It starts with an event where Adam is rethinking his life, leaning on logic, hoping that it would save him. Ubiety is a twisting narrative of one man’s life–Adam Johnson.
